Appointments

You can book an appointment with a practitioner by calling Reception on 02 6847 1202; operating hours are:

  • Monday to Friday from 9am-5:30pm.
  • We are open on some Saturday mornings so please check with our reception regarding Saturday bookings.

If you require emergency medical care at any time or require urgent medical care outside of our opening hours, please visit the Gilgandra MPS (hospital: 02 6880 5900) or dial 000 for an ambulance.

Dr Patrick Giltrap OAM 

Dr Giltrap is our longest serving general practitioner, having moved to Gilgandra to start practicing in 1983. His name is synonymous with community service, and recently enjoyed a public celebration of the many years of dedication he has provided to the health of Gilgandra. Dr Giltrap holds fellowship with both the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM), and in 2005 was named RACGP General Practitioner of the Year. 

Dr Gerald Chitsunge 

Dr Chitsunge graduated from Medicine in his home country of Zimbabwe in 1997, before working as a trauma specialist in Johannesburg. He then moved to Darwin, before coming to Dubbo to work as a specialist retrievalist with the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Dr Chitsunge joined Gilgandra Medical Centre in 2013 and works two weeks per month at the practice while providing VMO services to the Gilgandra MPS. He is working towards his fellowship with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).  

Dr Ming-Fai (Jackson) Lau 

Dr Lau has a Diploma in Child Health from the University of Sydney and completed his Medical degree with the University of New South Wales. He has worked in Bankstown, Cambletown, Gosford, Wyong and Blacktown Hospitals, before moving into general practice in Dubbo NSW.  Dr Lau has joined us for 6 months under the registrar training program GP Synergy, and recently came first in the state in his training exams. 

Dr Sandra Hornsey 

Dr Hornsey works as a general practitioner in Wellington NSW, and joins us for two days per month to provide a vital women’s health service as a female GP through the Royal Flying Doctor Service rural outreach program. She has been working with Gilgandra Medical Centre since 2008. Dr Hornsey obtained her degree in Medicine from the University of Sydney in 1976.
