Dr Clement Gordon and Dr Diana Coote are a husband and wife team who been providing healthcare in Warialda in both the medical centre and the hospital since 1989. Both doctors provide a range of services including acute and chronic services. Dr Gordon has a special interest in acupuncture, emergency medicine and skin lesions while Dr Coote has special interest in Womens health and Chronic disease management.

 

 

Region

Warialda is a town in the Northwest Slopes region of NSW, under the Gwydir Shire. Situated on the banks of Warialda Creek, the town's name means “Place of Wild Honey” in local aboriginal language.

In the 2016 Census, there were 1,590 people in Warialda. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people made up 7.2% of the population.

Transport

  • Warialda is accessible by car and is approximately 7.5-8 hours from Sydney and 5.5-6 hours from Brisbane

  • There is no commercial airport at Warialda. Access by air requires travel from regional centres. The closest regional centre is Moree (approx. 1 hour).

Healthcare

Warialda Multi Purpose Service is a 25-bed facility, consisting of 15 Residential Aged care beds and 10 Acute care beds and provides care for the community of Warialda and surrounding district. It offers a range of services including:

  • On call visiting medical officer services

  • Emergency

  • Pathology services

  • Radiology services

  • Residential age care

The closest referral hospital is Tamworth Base Hospital which is approximately 2 hours from Warialda.

There is also a 36-bed aged care facility which has a dementia ward.
